New Delhi: Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu on Thursday took oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha.
The three-time BJP Lok Sabha MP from Amritsar was recently nominated to the Upper House by the Narendra Modi government.
As per reports, Sidhu was given the Rajya Sabha nomination in a bid to prevent him from joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
There were reports that the AAP could project Sidhu as its chief ministerial candidate in Punjab Assembly Elections next year.
